Even at a test scale of 10 days and 14 vehicles, about 2,200 people viewed the product and average spend per booking user reached ¥33,450 — about 2.34× the prior TANAAKK rental average (¥14,273) over the same period. Versus short-duration use in the legacy business, Tcab bookings are centered on travel and stays. The United States, Singapore, and Canada are also among the top 10 traffic sources, so North American and Asian use is expected to grow.
Why average spend differs
Tcab focuses on travel-oriented hybrid vehicles such as Alphard, Vellfire, and Prius, with 24-hour pickup and return in Fukuoka and Okinawa. Ordinary driving fuel is included in the base fare, so a full-tank return is not required. Vehicle class, trip length, and travel use make higher spend per booking more likely than in the legacy rental business — as these early results show.
What’s next
With early demand signals and a path to profitability in the two-prefecture setup within about three months of launch, the three-year plan for FY2027–FY2029 aims to open about one prefecture per month and expand nationwide across Japan’s 47 prefectures — building Tcab infrastructure you can depart from anytime.
